The new Palma Cruise Laminate line features state-of-the-art, UPE-reinforced cloths designed specifically for modern recreational boats and sailors who value performance and good sail shape while enjoying their leisure time on the water.

UPE is an abbreviation for UHMWPE, which is the acronym for the chemical name of branded fibers such as Spectra and Dyneema. UPE is a high-modulus fiber, similar to aramid (Kevlar) or carbon fibre. This means the fiber has very low elongation, which is important for maintaining its shape—a key factor in a boat’s speed. However, unlike aramid and carbon fibre, UPE fiber is very strong and durable. It is exceptionally resistant to UV radiation (much better than Dacron), hydrophobic (it does not absorb water), and nearly impossible to cut or tear, making it the ideal high-modulus fiber for recreational sails. The result is a high-quality sail that can handle heavy loads without distorting its shape, while also being extremely durable and sturdy.
