A5 Asymmetric Spinnaker

The A5 is a high-wind reacher, designed for sailing under heavy load when conditions become too demanding for the A3 but do not yet warrant switching to downwind courses with the A4. It is a smaller and heavier version of the A3, built to provide maximum control and safety while maintaining high speed on sharper downwind courses and half-full courses.

Thanks to its reinforced construction and smaller surface area, the A5 performs exceptionally well in situations where the A3 causes the yacht to heel too much, and a change in course would be tactically disadvantageous. At the same time, it does not force a switch to fuller-sail sailing like the A4 does, which is why it perfectly bridges the gap between medium- and strong-wind reachers.

This sail is designed for challenging conditions—it’s stable, predictable, and can withstand heavy loads. The A5 performs exceptionally well in regattas where wind speeds often exceed the comfortable range for the A3, and maintaining an optimal course and speed is crucial to the outcome
