A-Class Spring Regatta 2022

The Bryt band has done it again!

Congratulations to Tymoteusz Bendyk, who has just won another Class A regatta— the A-CLASS SPRING REGATTA 2022—organized by Circolo Vela Arco on Lake Garda.

Tymek and Jakub Surowiec have recently participated in many regattas—most of which the duo dominated—but they haven’t raced against each other in nearly a year. Nevertheless, as a development team, they share their experiences with Jacek.

Below is a short interview with Tymek after the regatta.

A strong fleet at the spring regatta in Arco. What was your main advantage?

“It seems that the main advantage was reliable and well-prepared equipment—I didn’t have any problems. Manolo and Lamberto, who were putting a lot of pressure on me, ran into trouble and didn’t finish all the races. I managed to find very stable settings for upwind sailing on the foil in moderate to strong winds, and that’s where I gained the most. The Bryt 2022 sail performs great in these conditions.”

Rumor has it that you’ve been testing different mast-sail combinations. What did you discover, and what’s your favorite setup right now?

“Yes, I did a few tests with the prototype Compotech mast and Kuba’s sail (POL 41). For this regatta, I ultimately chose the tapered Fiberfoam mast and my own sail (black fabric). I’m very happy with this setup in all conditions below 18 knots. In stronger winds, there’s still some work to be done.”

Kuba: What changes do you expect to see before the European Championships in September?

“It’s a secret for now, but we’re working on developing the mast-and-sail assembly. As for the platform, I don’t know of any new changes. It’s very rigid and reliable, and that’s what matters most right now.”

The season has just begun, and you and Kuba have already trained quite a bit on Lake Garda. Kuba is the World Championship runner-up, and you’ve won twice on Lake Garda. What’s the plan to stay in shape for the European Championships?

“Poland’s Class A fleet is pretty strong, so we plan to train mainly in Sopot. Maybe some of us will go to the Dutch Championships. Of course, we warmly invite everyone to the Polish Championships in July.”

I guess the pizza in Sopot isn’t as good, so do you often go back to Lake Garda?

“Everything tastes better with a view like this. I love this place!”

It will be interesting to see how the team comes together again in Sopot after such a long break. This is the perfect time to fine-tune the equipment. The Exploder platforms are still performing great with their improved steering system. Kuba has already tested a prototype of the Bryt Sail PinHead sail in Houston, but so far, the standard 2022 models remain unrivaled.
